Great CD by a Great Band November 18, 2008 Giovanni Sissa 16 out of 22 found this review helpful
Highly recommended CD. There is a little change in style from previous records; perhaps "poppier".
I am not much of a writer but here I go with some highlights:
Gotta be Somebody (5/5) You all know this one by now !!
Something in Your Mouth (4/5) Hard Rocking song; great riffs
Just to get High (5/5): Another outstanding song !! Excellent guitar solo.
Never Gonna Be Alone: (5/5) Great Ballad; reminds be of Def Leppard.
Today Was Your Last Day (4/5) Yet another great song.
SEX, Burn It to the Ground are also good (not great) songs.
Definitely a must buy !!
Love Amazon February 3, 2009 Arthur Gnaegy (Quinton, VA.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After some confusion with Pepsi sweepstakes and loosing all my points because of a error on Pepsi' part, Amazon gave me the difference anyway as good gesture which was excellent. I do not know that I will be a part of any further Pepsi promotions however. kudos to Amazon for taking care of it's customers.

AMAZING ALBUM! February 8, 2009 Judith Halverson (Waterloo, IA, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
first I must say that I think Nickelback is the greatest band of all time! I love all of the albums from Curb to this one. Dark Horse is a great album (though it is raunchy)! The songs are all catchy and upbeat and flat out awesome! There are some real head-bangers like Burn It To The Ground and Next Go Round and a couple nice ballads like I'd Come For You and Never Gonna Be Alone. My personal favorite is Just To Get High. Why? Well, it's inspirational, chorus is catchy as hell, its not too soft, not too heavy and is has an AMAZING guitar solo! Do yourself a favor and buy Dark Horse today, you won't be dissaponited!
love it! November 19, 2008 horse girl 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I tend to prefer the milder side of Nickelback and avoid the harder, edgier songs. I thought this album had a good mix of ballads, just plain fun songs, and the hardcore/traditional Nickelback that old fans seem to prefer. I don't listen to a lot of music in this realm, but this album has enough to make me feel it's worthwhile. I can avoid the songs I don't like and still have enough to entertain me. It's definitely worth trying out. I think even those who wouldn't usually consider listening to a group like Nickelback would find something here to satisfy them.
I've bought CD's in my usual realm of music choice (much milder rock and country) with less to like on them than Dark Horse. Nickelback isn't my usual pick for music choice, but this CD I like...a lot.
Best I Got for Christmas January 14, 2009 Thomas B Hernandez (Houston TX) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I received 3 new albums this Christmas. I received the new Metallica, the new AC/DC and the new Nickelback. Of the three, the only one I enjoyed was Dark Horse, by Nickelback.
This album knocked me senseless in the first three songs and just wouldn't stop the entire way through. "Somethin in Your Mouth" is has some of the best word play and just smokes musically. "Burn it to the Ground" is the perfect rock song lyrically, musically, and in every other way.
I am scratching my head a bit on the contradiction between "Just to Get High" and "This Afternoon", but I think their is a distinction being made between marijuana and hard drugs in terms of what is destructive. I loved the line: "We got weeds in the back yard 4 feet tall/Cheech and Chong would probably have smoked them all"
And as a final comment: The guitar playing on this CD is smokin! There are several times that I found myself back in 88 or 89 while listening. Ryan Peake has certainly grown as a musician. His licks are spot on, creative, and still knows how to throw back to the metal we all loved back in the day.
