Ke$ha's fun debut April 15, 2010 David Ogletree (Cleveland, OH) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was skeptical about this album. I did not know what to think of it at first. The more I listened, the more it grew on me. This is an edgy collection of hard-hitting electro-pop songs, made all the more irresistible by their high-octance punk energy and her irrelevant lyrics and attitude. The songs showcase her flair of story-telling, her choice of subject matter is not exactly conventional. The album's title came from an diving experience she had and she was almost bitten by a barracuda. This album also has an empowering, carefree message for young women. This album is going to be successful despite the mixed reviews and negative reactions it has been receiving.
Ridiculous Fun January 13, 2010 Celestialfrog (Vermont) 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
If you are looking to Ke$ha's album for serious, soul-searching lyrics, you are not going to find anything like that. You should buy Ke$ha's album for a fantastic collection of ridiculous songs that will make you smile.
"Animal" is an auditory twinkie: you know it's bad for you, and that the contents are really unhealthy, and you would probably not admit to your friends that you love it; but at the same time, it tastes really good and it makes you happy. "Animal" reminds me of Cobra Starship's "Hot Mess." Both albums are fun, and not to be taken seriously. Great workout music, but not for deep contemplation.
Great pop cd May 7, 2010 M. Bradley (all over the USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This album was number one for a reason. It works.
Ke$ha has stated she wanted to convey a sound that was fun....job accomplished.
Don't take it too serious...it's fun and it's pop. It epitomizes the sound of 2010.
Yes, it talks about parties, and boys, and everything in between.
If you're a parent, use caution. It's nothing over-the-top but i wouldn't want my kids singing the lyrics, regardless.
I'm picky and I know good music when i hear it and there is NOTHING wrong with this cd.
If you don't like it and are writing negative reviews, it makes me wonder what genre is yours to begin with.
I bought this album knowing what I was getting into. Luckily it turned out how I anticipated....awesome.
You'll love this album if you like the songs that have been released.
Actually I wasn't expecting too much and got far more. There are actually some emotion-inducing ballads.
Highlights include:
Take It Off
Blah Blah Blah
Hungover (ballad with heart)
Backstabber (GREAT song)
Blind (another slower song with heart)
Dinosaur (Funny and fun)
Dancing with Tears in My Eyes (beautiful song)
Boots & Boys (very Britney Spears)
Animal (one of my favorites)
This album has plenty of great and memorable songs. Anyone who thinks otherwise is missing out. GREAT album.
Amazing!!! June 13, 2010 Beth B. (Illinois) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was surprised how good this CD since some of the reviews were not so good. I'm a recent college graduate female and I simply love it! I highly recommend it to anyone has once songs to part to or even to workout to. A++++ SELECTION!!!!
Clearly I am not the target audience for this cd June 15, 2010 Muffin (Chester County, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I heard the song TikTok in my Zumba class and LOVED it. (I don't listen to commercial radio much.) Eventually I searched for it and listened to the samples and read the reviews. I hesitated to buy the album, but I am SO glad that I did. It's just plain fun and I have listened to it many, many times.
